Claire’s Reader helps you review and annotate student submissions efficiently by breaking the text into manageable sections called “Blocks.”
This feature allows you to highlight strengths, weaknesses, and neutral areas, add comments for context, and interact with AI-generated suggestions to improve your feedback quality.
Open a student submission in Claire’s Reader. The text will be divided into “Blocks,” making it easier and faster to navigate and annotate the submission.
Use the Up
and Down
arrow keys on your keyboard to move the focus bar along the left side of the blocks. The focus bar indicates the currently selected block where annotations will be applied.

You can highlight each block to indicate its quality:

to mark the block green (strength).s
to mark the block gray (neutral; ignored in feedback generation).d
to mark the block red (weakness).The block’s background color will change accordingly to visually represent your annotation.
